A press report raises that possibility

This Business First story points out that OhioHealth Corp., Central Ohio’s largest hospital system, has announced $1 billion worth of expansions in its two flagship hospitals in Columbus, following the acquisition of two rural hospitals in early 2023. The company has also purchased 57 acres of land in New Albany for $12 million, but CEO Steve Markovich stated that there are currently no immediate plans to build there. The hospital system’s strategy is to keep care close to home, ensuring that patients are never more than 10 minutes away from an emergency department and never more than 20 minutes away from a hospital. Markovich also stated that OhioHealth is watching demographic and demand trends in its service area to determine where and when to build.
