The Washington, D.C., firm that develops data centers now owns 15 parcels in northwest Licking County.
A real estate investment firm that focuses on data center development got a bit of press coverage in late summer for its purchase of 93.79 acres for more than $20 million just south of the Intel site in New Albany. DPT-Data, based in Washington, D.C., told Columbus Business First that it planned to invest a total of $1 billion to build most likely three data centers for an undisclosed user.
While that project got underway, DPT-Data remained busy, buying 14 other nearby parcels clustered on Jug Street and Harrison Road on either Jan. 17, 18, or 20. On those three days, DPT-Data spent around $21 million to purchase more than 75 acres.Â
Combined with the previous deal, at the southwest corner of Jug and Mink streets, DPT-Data has invested about $40 million for more than 165 acres along a 1.2-mile stretch in northwest Licking County.Â
As noted in a previous SiliconHeartland.com story, an Amazon affiliate now controls about 650 acres in the same area for presumed data centers. That’s a lot of data centers planned near the Intel computer chip manufacturing plants.Â
